Photographers for Social Justice is a collective of three Bay Area Asian American women who use photography to document and inspire social justice. Their goal is to provide the tools and resources for individuals and communities to empower themselves through critical reflection and visual storytelling.
Sita, Mia and Elizabeth believe photography is an invaluable tool for inspiring social justice. Their philosophy is that transformational images can come from a range of tools: from super fancy D-SLRs to lo-tech plastic cameras and cell phone shots.
They have been invited to facilitate a workshop at the Facing Race 2010 Conference in Chicago called “Visibility, Awareness and Empowerment through Photography: Possibilities of Representation in Queer and API Communities.”
Sita, Mia and Elizabeth are currently raising funds to cover the cost of their travel expenses. To help them get to Chicago, please donate here.
